Asante Kotoko proposed pre-season trip to Dubai later this month has been cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic.
The Kumasi-based club slated October 22nd as the day they will jet off to the Gulf country to continue the second phase of their pre-season training but the trip is cancelled, Moses Antwi Benefo the communication director of Kotoko revealed.
According to Moses, the new coronavirus cases recorded in Dubai meant that the club can not travel there as scheduled
”Looking at the Covid situation in Dubai, it’s a bit scary which we don’t want to endanger the health of our players. Another country management was looking at was Turkey.”-Moses told Oyerepa FM.
“The Black Stars story has informed our decision not to make the trip. We will now move to Accra to train at Accra Sports Stadium to familiarize with the pitch for some days before we return to Kumasi for the necessary traditional blessings before the season begins.”
Ghana’s top-flight is scheduled to begin on November 13, 2020. Kotoko will play as hosts to Techiman Eleven Wonders.
Kotoko will represent Ghana in next season’s Caf Champions League.
