The player made this pronouncement on his official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon that read “I have decided to take a break from the national team until further notice.”

Mensah didn’t reveal what triggered sudden retirement but we suspect his exclusion from CK Akonnor’s 23-man squad for the Africa cup of nations qualifiers next week caused it.
Mensah was called into the Black Stars squad that played friendly games against Mali and Qatar last month.
He starred in the game against Mali and was an unused substitute against Qatar.
The 26-year-old was part of several members of the team who contracted Covid-19, but after days of isolation Mensah has recovered.
The former Kayserispor midfielder had only four caps for the Black Stars scoring one goal.
