Kumasi Asante Kotoko has succumbed to a 1-0 painful defeat to Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports stadium in the 2020-2021 Ghana Premier league week ten fixture on Sunday evening.
The Porcupine Warriors were determined to win the game and move to the top of the league log but a bad refereeing decision prevented them from achieving their aim.
Kotoko started on the front foot and made their intentions clear from the first minute and had their moment in the fifth minute where Kwame Opoku, went after a loose ball in the Aduana Stars penalty box, the goalkeeper was late and impeded Opoku, but a penalty call was ignored as the referee gave a goal kick.
Another big moment came in the second half on the hour mark where Kotoko midfielder Habib Mohammed was brought down in the 18-yard box of Aduana, which resulted in his dislocated injury but again Emmanuel Tampuri wave play on.
On the 75th minute, Substitute Samuel Bioh smashed home a loose ball in the Kotoko area after a scrappy play from the Kotoko players to put the visitors in front.
Kotoko pushed for the equalizer but they couldn’t fight back and the referee whistle to end proceedings.
The result means Aduana Stars have recorded their first-ever away win against Kotoko and first away win of the season.
Aduana win takes them to second on the league table leaving Kotoko on sixth
Kotoko will travel to play Ashantigold SC at Obuasi Len Clay sports stadium on January 29.
