Aduana Stars have taken a step closer to winning their first MTN FA Cup title after kicking out Asante Kotoko in Dormaa.

Aduana Stars defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Stadium, eliminating them from the MTN FA Cup and reaching the quarterfinals of the competition.

The top-line game of the round of 16 of the MTN Cup between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko ended in a goalless stalemate in Dormaa Ahenkro.

The fire boys, Aduana Stars, the host, didn’t give a chance to the Porcupine Warriors, who are fighting to get closer to the quarterfinals to enable them to clinch their tenth title.

Aduana Stars, who aimed at winning the trophy for the first time, controlled the game from the blast of the whistle until Asante Kotoko found their feet in the game.

Both teams had feasable chances at goal, but none could break the game’s tie after matching each other boot for boot.

most determined side Aduana Stars returned from the halftime break to score the first goal of the game through Sam Adams from a spot kick in the 59th minute.

The host, led by Paa Kwesi Fabin, deployed tactics that kept Steve Mukwala and Georges Mfugue from getting a chance to take a shot at goal.

Asante Kotoko fought back greatly but failed to score, as Aduana via the second half goal is through to the quarterfinals of the competition.

The Porcupine Warriors will now turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League with the hope of winning and going to Africa.
