Hearts of Oak National Chapters committee first Vice President, Saliu Joe, has revealed that the leadership of the supporters front is aware of the role Asante Kotoko coach, Maxwell Konadu, played in Joseph Esso rejecting the contract extension offer Hearts management presented to him.
Last Friday, the Phobians officially parted ways with five players including key player, [Joseph] Esso with a reason that the hardworking forward opted not to extend his contract with the Accra-Based club.
Since the announcement, rumours linking Esso to Kotoko has gathered more momentum and all indications show the 23-year-old will join the Porcupines sooner rather than later.
And responding to the possible Esso move to Kotoko, the first vice President of the Chapters Committee is accusing the former Black stars ”B” gaffer of influencing the tiring attacker not to sign a new deal with the Phobians in order to get him into his Kotoko side.
“The NCC knew about Maxwell Konadu influence on Joseph Esso since last year when they went for the WAFU tournament hence management started negotiations with him as early as November last year but he kept giving excuses so we are not surprised by reports he is joining Kotoko.”- Saliu Told Kumasi Fm
”Hearts of Oak supporters do not support individual players, we support the club and we do not care about his next destination anymore.
We have nothing to tell him, we leave him to his God” he ended.
Maxwell and Esso worked together at the national team assignment where both won the WAFU tournament in Senegal two years ago.
