Aduana Stars Striker Bright Adjei has sent a word of caution to Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold over accepting to participate in next season’s CAF champions league and Confederation cup competitions respectively, insisting not playing for a longer period will not help them to be competitive.
The GFA Executive council members unanimously concluded that the 2019/20 season be canceled hence kotoko and AshantiGold to represent Ghana in CAF champions league and confederation cup competitions respectively following their exploits in Normalization Committee special competition which saw Kotoko win the tier 1 and Ashgold winning the tier 2
But sharing his thoughts on the decision, the 26-year-old goal poacher said following the long period of no football in the country, it will be appropriate for the two clubs to decline participation in next season’s CAF inter club competitions
“I will advice Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold not to partake in the African Inter Club competition”- Adjei told Alpha Radio
“Going almost four(4)months without football is bad to any player and the team as a whole, Individual training is good but is different from team training
“It will be prudent for both clubs to prepare for the local league instead of playing in Africa” he concluded.
AshantiGold has already accepted the challenge to represent Ghana at the CAF confederation cup, though kotoko has not made an official statement on the decision, but reports say the Porcupine club will also take the challenge.
