Ghana’s Asumah Abubakar scored twice to help his team, SC Kriens, to record an important home victory over Grasshoppers club Zurich at the Kleinfeld in the Swiss Challenge League on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old and his team hosted Grasshoppers on Tuesday evening for their fifth league game of the season, and a brace in the second half from the Ghanaian helped his side in thrashing their opponent by 5-2.
The host scored the first goal in the 21st minute through Bahadir Yesilcayir before Nuno Pena Nunes got the equaliser before the break. The first half ended 1-1.
Abubakar got his goal in the 53rd minute after his teammate Liridon Mulaj had restored Kriens lead in the 4th minute into the second half of the game.
In the 59th minute, Toti Gomez pulled one back for the visitors to put the score at 3-2.
Bahadir restored Kriens two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute.
Four minutes later Abubakar added the nail on the coffin to kill off any hopes of the visitors coming back into the game.
Abubakar made way for Baba Souare in the 89th minute.
The win takes FC Kriens to 9 points and 3rd on the standings after 5 games.
The goal takes Abubakar’s tally to 5 goals this season. He scored 14 league goals last season for Kriens in 34 games.
