Asante Kotoko has defeated Berekum Chelsea to go second, a point above their arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors came from a goal down to beat Berekum Chelsea 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in the 2022-2023 betPawa Premier League.
Eric Zeze tied a cagey game between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea after Emmanuel Sarpong had earlier put the Porcupine Warriors up front at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The fairly competitive game between the two sides didn’t see much of an attacking game plan from both sides until Emmanuel Sarpong broke through the defensive line of Asante Kotoko to place the ball past Danlad, breaking the game’s tie at the 28th minute.
Asante Kotoko fought back to tie the game through Serge Eric Zeze in the 43rd minute of the first half via a tap-in.
The Porcupine Warriors returned from the half-time break to come strongly at the visitors and got the second through Steve Mukwala, who leapt high and connected on a well-delivered free-kick from Enock Morrison.
The Uganda sharpshooter scored the game’s third goal four minutes before the end of time, but his goal was ruled off. Berekum Chelsea’s second-half game was poor as compared to their first-half performance.
