Despite interrupting Kotoko’s unbeaten record in the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League, King Faisal’s head coach, Ahmed, has confessed that his side is not ready to participate in Africa inter-club competition.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, King Faisal upset Asante Kotoko 3-2, with Zubairu scoring a hat-trick to help his team defeat their regional rivals. The Porcupine Warriors were defeated for the first time at home, despite two goals by Mfegue.
Nurudeen Ahmed said after the game: “I told you that six points are at stake, not more than three and then we were just playing, we gave them a good fight.
“You know that is a big club and we started the match as underdogs but we did the needful even though they played better we did the needful,” said Nurudeen Ahmed
“Being needful means that you sit back and you take your chances. The few chances that we got we utilized them and that has been the game plan throughout.” Nurudeen Ahmed added.
On title ambitions, the gaffer stated they’ll work had to maintain a good position but not ready for Africa
“It means that we are course but it’s just too early to say anything.
“We believe that we will continue working hard at least we will also get a respectable position on the league table not necessarily to take the cup or something because we are not ready for Africa.” Nurudeen Ahmed told Eli Kondo of StarTimes.
