Opare Addo, communication director of Accra Hearts of Oak, has exhorted the team to take its chances in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Last Sunday, the Phobians were beaten mercilessly by the Moroccan giants, 6-1, in the reverse leg in Morocco after Hearts had taken a 1-0 lead at home in the first leg held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Wydad Athletic Club qualified on a 6-2 aggregate, progressing to the next stage of the competition as by rule, eliminating Hearts of Oak from competing in the Confederation Cup.
In the CAF Confederation Cup playoff stage, the team will face JS Saoura of Algeria. The first leg will be held November 26-28, 2021, with the second leg taking place December 3-5, 2021.
Opare Addo, PRO of the club after the draw, told Joy Sports “His side have another opportunity to make themselves proud in the Confederations Cup,”
The communication director believes Hearts can pull out a surprise and make a great impact in the Confederation competition.
“We lost at the champions league level, but the confederations also presents another opportunity,”
“We must let Hearts of Oak count, we must remain united, and we must allow the supporters to continue to stand firm behind the team.” he added.
Hearts of Oak and Ghanaians are hopeful the team will pass JS Saoura to restore the image of Ghana football on African soil.
