South Africa head coach Hugo Broos delighted over his side’s mighty victory over Ghana yesterday in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The 69-year-old, Hugo Broos’s side top Group G, after deservedly beaten a very bad Ghana side.
Ghana was in Johannesburg for the second Group G game of the world cup qualifiers and lost the game at the First National Bank Stadium on Monday evening.
After a shambolic performance, Ghana lost to the host by a lone goal scored in the final 7 minutes of the game. As a result of the defeat, Stars are no longer top of Group G of the Africa qualifiers.
After the game, the experienced trainer uncovered he feels proud of defeating Ghana insisting there was the determination to win.
“I’m very proud and happy today with what I saw on the pitch of my team,” he said after the match.
“We have made big progress in one week. When I saw my team play in Zimbabwe there was no confidence, no determination, no belief in themselves, but I saw a team with lots of confidence today.
“We played a very good game. There was determination. There was the will to winning, there was discipline and that is what I like.
South Africa has beaten Ghana for the first time in competitive football for 21 years and breached Ghana’s five-game unbeaten streak in World Cup qualifiers.
