Black Stars legend John Yawson Nketiah has revealed that broken promises is the cause of Black Stars Afcon drought.
Yawson is said to have cursed the country after failure to fulfilling its promise after they won the AFCON, but, he has denied the speculations.
The 1978 Afcon Winner was the first African player to play in South America.
He played for Sekondi Eleven Wise in 1977 and 1978 before moving to Accra Hearts of Oak for the 1978/79 season.
Former Hasaacas player was an integral part of the national team who won 1978 Afcon triumph, as Ghana became the first ever country side to win the trophy three times.
“I didn’t cursed the team after the nation failed to fulfilled their promise but I’m African, we all believed that our failure to win the Afcon is due to the broken promise then I also believe it – He told Skyy Fm.
” It can never happened that Ivory Coast will missed two penalties and yet still they won the Afcon ahead of Black Stars – He added.
The winger moved to the Liga Profesional de Primera División team Club, Atlético Peñarol in Uruguay, which his first season led him to become the first African player in the Copa Libertadores.
