The game was overshadowed by many unexpected circumstances right from the blast of the first whistle by the center referee, who was neither assisted by any linesman nor a match commissioner.
Final Whistle’s Osee Attipoe scored the first goal of the game after just 13minutes of play to give his side the commanding lead they thoroughly deserved after dominating the majority of the opening exchanges.
Since there was no linesman or a match commissioner to aid the referee in tight decisions, he made a couple of errors to the disadvantage of the away side who were furious during the greater part of the 90minutes of action.
Platinum FC equalized on the 40th minute’s mark after a defensive collapse led to miscommunication between the two center backs of the away side.
The second half of the game was mered with series of controversies after Final Whistle was denied two penalty appeals.
No goal was scored in the remaining 45minutes as the away side had to settle for a draw and prepare for their next game.
Speaking to the media after the game, Coach of Final Whistle FC, Kobby Mends expressed his dissatisfaction towards the referee’s officiating.
“I don’t think today’s game was officiated fairly. We had good opportunities to lead in the game but that’s football. I think we had one or two clear penalties but the referee wasn’t interested and I don’t know how…” He said.
“Now we have to get ready for our next game and I think we will improve much better” he added.
Final Whistle’s next league fixture will be a home game against Rapid FC, who also drew goalless against Koans FC during their match week one encounter.
The game is scheduled to come off on Saturday, June 12.
