The GFA in an announcement on it’s official website declared the birth of a Regional U-17 Women’s League across the country from next season.
The GFA statement reads;
“The Ghana Football Association is pleased to announced that there shall be Regional U-17 Women’s Leagues across the country from next season…
These clubs will register and compete at the Regional level beginning from the 2021/22 season”.
The GFA in a communiqué has therefore opened it doors to the general public with interest in juvenile women football to form U-17 female teams for registration and incorporation by contacting the various Regional Football Association.
The GFA intends to use the coming months to plan, engage and strategize for a smooth take off later this year.
According to the GFA, this decision as part of the restructuring exercise being embarked upon to move Women’s football forward.
Also, this will help give young female footballers of school going age access and a pathway to appropriate levels of coaching, training and support, to enable us reach our ultimate goal by producing elite female players to compete on the world stage.
The U-17 Women’s League will be the second to the only existing Women’s Football league in the country to the Women’s Premier League.
