The crises in Hearts of Oak have risen to the brim and beyond repairs, after series of resignation and supporters besieging the club’s secretariat this morning, the board of directors held a press conference to explain to the public the current happenings at the club.
Board Member Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe addressed the media and made some claims about departed first-team coach Kostadin Papic who left his role citing interference from top-level management and some board members.
Dr Nyaho said Hearts of Oak players told the board that Kosta Papic is their problem and listed these factors about why they are saying so
1. Favoritism in the team
2. The coach keeps changing his winning team
3. Inconsistencies of tactics implementation
4. Injure players being field in matches.
For fact-checkers, we believe the claims by the players through Dr Nyaho is not true and is an attempt to push blame on Papicwho has left the country
First of all, they talked about Favouritism, the facts available to everybody show that that is not true because
Papic supervised 10 matches, and all the players featured except Ben Mensah who is the third-choice goalkeeper, young defender James Sewornu, and Benjamin Nana Yeboah (keeper promoted from Auroras).
If a coach in all the matches he supervised managed to give 98% of the squad a chance to play, he cannot be accused of favouring one player over another.
They accused him of changing his winning team, this contradicts their point about favouritism, if he keeps changing his team it means he is not favouring anybody and we all know he changed his teams because of injuries to some of the key players.
Under Papic key players like ( Sarpong, Nuru Sulley, Nurudeen Abdul Aziz, Mamane Lawali, Emmanuel Nettey, Larry Osman, Kwadwo Obeng Jr suffered injuries which meant the coach have to select other players to play.
Again, they accused him of inconsistencies in tactics implementation, this point sounds funny and weird, I say this because this is a league campaign and every opposition comes with different tactics and formation so, Hearts should be ready for this different variation of tactics from their opponents, I ask this, were the players expecting the same tactics against every opposition?
This goes to tell how inept Hearts players are, and Papic was right in saying the players were not implementing what he thought them in training,
The last point which says, injured players were fielded for matches- this is a blatant lie, which goes to indicts the medical team of the club, Sarpong before his injury scored two goals in one match for Hearts, he was a key player, if this claim is true, why didn’t we see Sarpong play again till now? Obeng Jr, before his injury, was the top scorer for Hearts, he sat out until he recovered and went on to score against Legon Cities, as at now, Lawali is still nursing an injury, if this claim is anything to go by why has he not played till now, Nettey sat we for several weeks before been passed fit to train and play.
Papic came in and revived and improved players like Manaf Gumah, who was a shadow of himself under Coach Odoom Nii, Club Captain Fatawu Mohammed, Nurudeen, William Denkyi, Dominic Eshun, Victor Aidoo, Richmond Ayi etc.
It is our view that Hearts of oak Board of directors have refused to take responsibility for their needless activities that have brought the club to its knees.
We urge them to take full responsibility and change things to restore the clubs lost image.
