Asante Kotoko and King Faisal will rekindle their long-standing local rivalry at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
On Match Day 6 of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, the Porcupine Warriors take on their City rivals in a match that pairs the league leaders against the second-placed King Faisal Babes.
Asante Kotoko’s 100% win start to the season came to an end last week after they drew 0-0 with Karela United at Aiyinase, putting an end to their five-match winning streak. The Ghanaian giants, on the other hand, did well to keep their unbeaten streak alive by holding out for a draw.
King Faisal will try to take points from the Reds, but it won’t be easy because Asante Kotoko has yet to lose at home. They haven’t conceded in Kumasi since the League began, and King Faisal will have to break their back to change that.
Since their opening day win over Dreams FC in Accra, where they fought back from a goal down to win 3-1 with Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scoring for the Still Believers, Asante Kotoko has not conceded a single goal. Since the start of the 2021/2022 league season, both teams have been impressive.
Asante Kotoko is in first place in the League table with 13 points, three points ahead of King Faisal, who have 10 points from five games.
This season, King Faisal has also been impressive, putting on some impressive displays at the Baba Yara stadium.
Teams News
Richmond Lamptey has recovered from his injury suffered against Eleven Wonders, while Faisal’s team will be without Ibrahim Osman. Both teams’ other players are available for selection.
