Accra Great Olympics defeated Legon cities by 3-0 at the Accra sports stadium on Friday evening in week two of Ghana Premier League.
The host was coming into the game at the back of getting a huge point away against bookmakers favourite to win the league,Medeama SC last week.
And with full confidence, Olympics dominated the first 45 minutes, and capped it with a beautiful free-kick goal by midfield maestro Gladson Awakoin the 44’ minute to put the host in 1-0 lead before the break.
The second half was a similar fashion to the first as Olympics showed, experience, discipline, resilient and composure throughout the game.
On the 53rd minute, Maxwell Abbey Quaye scored from the spot to double their lead and just 7 minutes to end proceedings Samuel Ashie-Quaye disposed of his opponent and beautifully smashed the ball with his left foot into the top right corner.
Gladson Awako29, was a delight to watch, the former Ghana International showed his class, bossed the midfield and with the support of his teammates, embarrassed Legon cities in a one-sided game.
The results mean Great Olympics are now on top of the League with 4 points, the last time they top the league was on the 25th May 2003 when they led the table with 7 points after day 3.
