Asante Kotoko board member Alhaji Abu Lamine has revealed that the failure for his club not to sign Justice Blay was more of Medeama sporting club than any other person.
However, Sports Journalist Opoku Afriyie of Light FM alleged that the club Chief Executive officer deliberately refused to sign the tiring midfielder to bring his player Sulley Muniru.
According to Alhaji Lamine, Kotoko did all they could to sign Blay, but Medeama was not ready to let go their player
”We wanted to pay GHC200,000 but the club was unwilling to accept it but we realized they wanted to take advantage of us.
“We also realized he has a year left on his contract with the club so if they will accept it, then let’s suspend the deal. We contacted the coach about his midfield options and he was okay with the ones available.
“Maxwell Konadu told me he has no problem with his midfielders so we should suspend Justice Blay pursuit,” he said.
The 28-year-old midfielder had a season to forget at the Kumasi-based club after he joined them on a season-long loan last season.
