Referees Association of Ghana boss, Joe Debrah has cautioned Ghana football association for setting a bad precedent by including Nathan Anafo into the list of officiating officials for 2020-2021 season which he believes does not help the integrity of football.
Nathan Anafowas one of the Ghanaian referees who were captured taken bribes to influence Ghana Premier leagues games in Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s investigative piece dubbed number 12 in 2018.
The referees association set out a committee to sit on the case and 61 referees were found guilty and they were punished as follows: 53 were given 10-year bans which included Nathan Anafo.
However, the newly appointed GFA’s referee’s manager has included Anafo into the list of officials going for cooper test and Debrah thinks it is not right:
“The issue involving Nathan Anafo is a very dicey case. I was told his name is in the list of officials going for the cooper test.
”According to the referee’s manager at GFA, FIFA has exonerated him. During the NC special competition, he showed up at Sogakope for training but he was sacked. Nathan Anafo was in the Anas Expose and the referee himself accepted that he was guilty. All I will say is we are setting a bad precedent. But the leaders of RAG will meet tomorrow on this issue.”- Debrah Told Angel TV
