Black stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has assured all Ghanaians of a much improved Black stars team when they take on Qatar national team later today.
CK will lead his men for the second time to play Qatar in international friendly thinking to win after he suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Mali on Friday.
Speaking to GFA.org, the embattled gaffer said he’s analysed the team’s shortfalls in the last game and believes those shortfalls won’t repeat itself when the team plays Qatar today
“Approach is going to be different. First of all, against Mali, we were not compact and I am looking forward to improving in that area to be compact and of course how we approach, how we attack. How we attack in the way of offensive play was not effective and we need to improve in that area and of course, defensively we allowed too many chances to the opponent. We worked on it yesterday, we have discussed it, today we going to continue and hopefully tomorrow you will see a lot of improvement. I am very, very positive about that and I know that we will improve in that area.
Defender Nicolas Opoku suffered an injury against Mali and is doubtful for the game, regardless CK believes there will be some new faces getting a chance
“Yes, there will be changes in the squad for the Qatar game,” Akonnor said.
Ghana will play Qatar at the Titanic Sports complex in Antalya today at exactly 3:30 GMT in their final warm-up game ahead of next month’s doubleheader against Sudan
