Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has been confirmed the footballer of the year at this year’s edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards on Saturday evening.
The 29-year-old saw off contest from his international teammate Thomas Partey who played for Atletico Madrid and now Arsenal and Mubarak Wakaso who played for Spanish side Deportivo Alaves and Jiangsu Suning Football Club to win the top award.
The enterprising forward had a season to forget for Ghana and Crystal Palace where he finished the campaign as Crystal Palace player of the year, Top scorer and was adjudged player and Fans player of the season.
Though Ghana had a horrific AFCON at Egypt in 2019, Jordan was the only player who gave Ghanaians something to cheer about with his beautiful runs and work rate.
Since making his debut for the Black Stars in 2010 against Swaziland. Jordan has now amassed 62 international caps and scored 17 goals in the process.
