On September 6, 2019. Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi’s car was stolen in Kumasi
Twumasi confirmed to Atinka fm that, yes, his official car has been stolen in a hotel
“It is true that one of National Sports Authority vehicle(pick-up) has been stolen, the driver slept at one hotel in Kumasi and the unfortunate incident happened. It’s not my personal car that has been stolen.” He said.
However a report by a sports journalist Muftawu Anabila revealed that, Twumasi had earlier said the car was with his driver Michael Andoh and he was robbed.
This two reports clearly indicated that Prof. Twumasi didn’t know what actually happened to the government property in his possession
But conceded that, the matter has been reported to the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region.
Eight months after a government property (vehicle) with registration number GX 6551 -18 given to NSA Boss got missing no news has come out from it.
Halftimegh.com investigated the issue and we can conclude that,
The vehicle has not been found yet.
Nobody has been arrested to that effect.
In fact, investigations into the matter has long be stalled.
However, A Criminal Code Act 179A talks about Causing Loss, Damage or Injury to Property
Where section 1 states clearly that- Any person of any public body or any agency of the state commits an offence
And the section 179D talks about- Penalty
A person convicted of an offence under any of the offences specified in this chapter is liable on conviction to a fine of not less than Gh5 million or imprisonment not exceeding ten years or both
Therefore, Halftimegh.com is hereby calling on the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to direct the Attorney general as matter of urgency to prosecute Professor Peter Twumasi for the missing of estimated $20 000 Nissan pick-up belonging to government.
